Welcome to Ski Portillo 2008

Portillo is unique because there is no town and there is only one hotel: the grand Hotel Portillo, which has 123 rooms. In this respect, the Portillo skiing and resort experience is unlike that of other commercial ski resorts.
Portillo rooms are cozy and warm, and feature simple decoration. We offer a variety of rooms, including doubles, family apartments and suites, with a view of the valley or the lake. While the mountain view from the valley side is beautiful, the lake view is especially spectacular and is worth the slightly higher price. Portillo's rooms are simply decorated and comfortable. Our rooms do not have TV, however TV can be viewed in the cinema and disco at designated hours.

The Portillo ski and resort experience is unlike that of any other commercial ski resort. We offer our Grand Hotel Portillo, with a variety of room options, as well as the Octagon Lodge and Inca Lodges. There is no neighboring town, meaning Portillo is totally self-contained, much like a cruise ship nestled in the magnificent Andean peaks. But Portillo is not just for skiing or snowboarding, socializing and relaxing, it is also for renovating and restoring the body and mind in a natural environment that is nothing less than spectacular. Portillo has been South America's premier destination ski resort for more than 50 years, internationally famous for its majestic, Andean setting and powder snow.

Portillo operates on a weeklong, Saturday to Saturday basis. Our guests arrive from like a freshman class, but quickly make friends and contacts, sometimes even on the drive up from the airport. By the end of the week, families have grown closer, romances have bloomed and guests have made lifelong friends, having lived, skied and laughed together during their wonderful week in Portillo.

Our guests come from near and far, they speak several languages and they represent the full spectrum of skiing and snowboarding abilities: from beginner-beginner to #1 world champions. They come to Portillo for many different reasons . . . its beauty . . . its ski terrain . . . the warm hospitality . . . the camaderie . . . the fun. So many Portillo guests end up coming back - they simply love the Portillo way of life.

Over the past 50 years, Portillo has gained a reputation as an excellent destination for skiers and boarders.

With our first-rate snow, we can cater to skiers and snowboarders of all abilities. 80% of the terrain is carefully groomed on a daily basis, and the most difficult terrain is natural snow pack. Expert skiers have access to vast and challenging areas, steep terrain and exhilarating experiences.
There are plenty of choices at Portillo and all are easy to access and crowd free. Portillo also allows beginners and intermediate to excel at their own pace on groomed runs and open bowls.

Portillo is 102 miles from Santiago or approximately a 2 hour drive. The drive from Santiago is very scenic. Both airport and ground transfers are available upon request We recommend that you arrange a transfer service in either the Saturday shuttle, a van or a private car when you make your reservation. Ground transfers are not included in our rates. Please let us know if you need ground transportation via email: sales@latintrip.com

Portillo Hotel rooms are simply decorated and comfortable. Offers a variety of rooms, including doubles, family apartments and suites, with a view of the valley or the lake. While the mountain view from the valley side is beautiful, the lake view is specially spectacular and is worth the slightly higher price.

Portillo's rooms do not have TV, however TV can be viewed in the cinema and disco at designated hours. We encourage our guests instead to take part in our many activities and facilities, and disconnect from the day to day routine.

Suites
are located on the 2nd and 6th floors, and all have lake views. Each suite features a bedroom with a queen-sized bed, dressing area, living area and balcony. The windows are larger than in the doubles, enabling guests to further enjoy the impressive view of the Inca Lake.

Portillo Family Apartments are two interconnected rooms with one or two private baths. One room has either two twin beds or one queen-sized bed, while the adjoining room has four bunks. These rooms are ideal for families or groups of 4 to 6 people. Family apartments are available with valley or lake views. Children and teens 0-17 years old staying in family apartments pay children's or teen rates as listed, while adults pay family apartment rates. If only children or teens are staying in a family apartment, two must pay the adult family apartment rate. Family apartments require a minimum of 4 paying guests.

Queen-size beds can be requested, but their confirmation will depend on availability.

Octagon Lodge:As an economical lodging alternative we offer our Octagon Lodge, a small lodge just steps away from Hotel Portillo. Each room offers four spacious bunks and a private bathroom. These are great deals for families and groups of friends. Guests in the Octagon Lodge enjoy all of the hotel's services including meals in the main dining room.

The Octagon Lodge is considered shared accommodations and therefore each guest reserves a bunk bed. Consequently, guests travelling alone will likely share a room with other guests of the same gender.

The Inca Lodge is our backpacker's lodge and is located only 30 steps away from the Hotel. Rooms are small and bathrooms are communal: one for women, one for men. The Inca is the cheapest way to enjoy Portillo and is best used by guests under thirty or guests who don't mind a bit more noise. It is the meeting place for young skiers and boarders from all over the world. Inca guests take their meals in the self-service cafeteria, but otherwise have access to all hotel facilities. At an additional charge Inca guests may also eat in the main dining room.

The Inca Lodge is considered shared accommodations and therefore each guest reserves a bunk bed. Consequently, guests travelling alone will likely share a room with other guests of the same gender.
